Privacy Policy — TeachAttend (Hajri)

Effective date: 26 August 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how TeachAttend (Hajri) ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use our Android application. By using the app, you agree to this policy.

 1. Overview

TeachAttend is an offline-first classroom attendance tool for teachers. We do not operate any servers. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data or your students' data. All records live on your own device, and backups go only to your own Google account.

 2. Data stored on your device

To function, the app stores the following only on your device in a private local database:

- Student details you enter: name, roll number, class/section, subject enrolment, and optionally up to two phone numbers
- Attendance records you mark (date, class, subject, present/absent status)

This data never leaves your device unless *you* explicitly export or back it up (sections 3–4). Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of it.

3. Google Drive backup (optional)

If you enable backup, the app saves an encrypted-at-rest copy of your data to the app-data folder of YOUR OWN Google Drive account, using Google sign-in.

- This folder is private to your Google account; we have no ability to read it
- Backup happens only when you tap "Back up", or automatically at your chosen schedule if auto-backup is enabled
- You can disable auto-backup, disconnect Drive, or delete the backup file (`hajri_backup.json`) from Google Drive at any time

The app uses the Android `INTERNET` permission solely for this Google sign-in and Drive backup feature.

4. Exports (Excel / PDF)

When you export reports, files are written to locations you choose on your device or cloud storage. We never receive copies.

5. What we do NOT do

- We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, or crash logs
- We do not show advertisements
- We do not use third-party trackers or SDKs that profile users
- We do not require account creation; no names/emails are registered with us

 6. Children's privacy

The app is a professional tool intended for teachers and educational staff. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Student entries created by a teacher remain on the teacher's device as described above.

7. Data retention & deletion

- Device data: deleted permanently by using More → Clear all data, or by uninstalling the app
- Drive backup: delete the backup file from your Drive's app-data folder, or disconnect Drive in the app
- Exports: delete the exported files from your storage

 8. Permissions we use

Permission Why
INTERNET  Google sign-in & Drive backup only
Network state  To detect connectivity before auto-backup
Media/file access To import/export Excel, PDF and backup files you choose

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
